Chuks Ibegbu, a chieftain of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has demanded an international inquiry into allegations of execution of six Igbo soldiers at a barracks in Abuja.

The Igbo scribe asked the Nigerian Army to prove to Nigerians that the allegations are not true rather than the widespread incoherent claims.

He also called for an inquiry into the Obigbo massacre and warned that extrajudicial killings in the Southeast must not be swept under the carpet.

Ibegbu, the immediate past Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo made the call in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Tuesday.

He also lambasted the Buhari-led government for citing Military, Airforce and Transport universities in the north and west and allegedly sideling the Igbo nation in its developmental policies and programmes.

While reminding President Muhammadu Buhari that he is the President of Nigeria and not the President of Northern Nigeria alone, Ibegbu warned against capital flight from Nigeria to Niger or neighbouring countries.

“We can help them but we must also benefit from them. It is two-way traffic. Killers from these neighbouring countries must not be allowed into Nigeria.

“We want the army to openly come out and prove it is not true rather than incoherent claims, “he demanded on the alleged killing of soldiers

Ibegbu blamed some Southern and middle belt leaders for their timidity in the face of threats of foreign invaders from neighbouring countries who want to annex Nigerian lands and assets.

On the 2023 Presidency, the ex-Ohanaeze spokesman called for a meeting of Nigerian stakeholders and bridge-builders to ensure that a Pan Nigerian Igbo succeeds Buhari.

He further called on President Buhari to begin the search for his successor in Igboland in general and the South East in particular.

“He owes this duty to Nigerians and to the founding fathers of Nigeria, Ibegbu declared.
