APC may zone 2023 presidency to South East, says Okechukwu

There is every likelihood the All Progressives Congress (APC) will zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the South East, according to the Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu.

Okechukwu, a President Muhammadu Buhari’s loyalist, who spoke yesterday at an APC caucus meeting at the party’s secretariat in Enugu ahead of the Isi-Uzo House of Assembly bye-election in October 31, said a President of Igbo extraction would transform the economy.

He commended the Enugu State APC Chairman, Ben Nwoye, for his efforts in uniting the party and bringing back aggrieved members, including A. C. Ude and Queen Nwankwo.

Okechukwu said:”I assure other Nigerians that Ndigbo will bring their entrepreneurial spirit to transform the country.
“At home I want you to embrace the agricultural project of the Federal Government as part of President Buhari’s agro revolution. The Federal Government will provide the necessary incentives like seedlings, fertiliser, tractors as well as agro processing centres.”

Nwoye said that for the first time the party was poised to produce a member of the House of Assembly from Isi-Uzo council.

The immediate former APC National Vice Chairman South East, Chief Emma Eneukwu, praised Nwoye for the peace initiative.
Meanwhile, Southeast for Presidency 2023 Movement (SEFORP2023) has said a President of Igbo extraction would develop the country.

SEFORP 2023 National Coordinator, Rev Okechukwu Obioha, said while inaugurating the Rivers State chapter of the movement at the weekend that the region had contributed a lot to the unity and development of Nigeria and should not be denied presidency in 2023 on account of the Biafra agitation.

He said: “All we are saying is that it is justifiable that a zone that has been a major partner in the project called Nigeria should have the presidency. The South East has been missing from the political calculations. It is time to reintegrate the zone into the fulcrum.”
