– Adams Oshiomhole said there is no room for violence in the Edo election

– The former APC national chair said anybody caught causing troubles will be arrested and prosecuted

– Oshiomhole emphasized that there will not be sacred cows from both APC and PDP when it comes to violence

Adams Oshiommhole has told the security operatives to arrest people caught causing violence in the Edo state governorship election irrespective of their party affiliations. The former All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman made this known in Abuja after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, August 17

Addressing journalist at the State House after the meeting, Oshiomhole disclosed that he told President Buhari that heavy security is needed for the Edo election in order to prevent malpractices and violence.

According to him, there will not be sacred cows as anybody caught instigating disorder and waging firearms during the guber poll will be arrested and duly prosecuted. The Edo election has been scheduled for September with both APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) highlighting the guber race in a fierce feud that has put both parties at public loggerhead.

Earlier, Governor Godwin Obaseki threatened to unleash violence in full force should the APC take to the rampage path, saying “there is no monopoly of it.”

However, in a reaction, Oshiomhole berated Obaseki for vowing to unleash violence on members of the opposition, saying the governor should not have made such violence-inciting statement. Ahead of the electoral showdown, the former Edo governor posited that violence and arms waging will not be condoned in the election. “The outgoing governor is talking more about violence, you must have watched him on Channels television where he said he will meet violence for violence and we are saying no, there will be no violence.

“If APC man commits an offence, arrest him; if a PDP man commits an offence, arrest him. Once one person is arrested from the APC and another person is arrested from PDP, if they are found involved in unlawful possession of firearms and they misused those firearms and they are arrested and prosecuted, the message is clear,” Oshiomhole said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Oshiomhole came hard on Godwin Obaseki with the immediate national chairman of APC saying the Edo governor is not a threat to the ruling party’s quest to win Edo state election. Oshiomhole and Obaseki fell apart with the political feud between the former godson and his mentor forcing the latter to resign his membership of the ruling party.
